Gay marriage

Tim Hopkins makes some interesting comments (Letters, 5 May) in his response to Philip Lardner's views on homosexuality but there is one I must call into question: "Marriage for same-sex couples is supported by the majority of Scots".

I would be curious to know from where he draws this conclusion as I doubt if it truly reflects the views of anything like a majority of the population of our country. Perhaps he would be good enough to share the source of the statistics.
