Games reveal nation’s potential

THE final medals table of the Commonwealth Games reveals the benefit of the UK’s four nations competing separately. Scotland, competing on its own, achieved an exceptional result.

What the final results also show is that if the UK competed as a single entity (as it does in the Olympics) it would far and away dominate the Games. This would probably be to the overall detriment of the event.

Scotland’s individual effort here forms a shining example of what might be achieved under independence.

The country focusing on its own values, in its own way, achieved a wonderful result for the people of Scotland.
