Funny old world

It’s a funny old world. At the height of Edinburgh’s International Festival the popular visitor attraction National Museum of Scotland is closed for a week’s strike over allowance cuts some time back arising from reduced Scottish Government funding (your report, 25 August).

Perhaps the Public and Commercial Services Union would have fared better in its efforts to get staff allowance equality had it engaged that former adviser to Alex Salmond who so successfully lobbied culture secretary and also transport minister to get T in the Park a £150,000 grant especially when we read she was working part-time for DF Concerts which it seems has reported annual pre-tax profits of at least £4.5 million for the last three years.
