Funeral costs

It is concerning that the cost of funerals has increased 80 per cent since 2004 and is still increasing (your report, 18 April 2015)

The impact of these continuing rising costs of arranging final send-offs on Scottish families is potentially huge. It was recently reported that one in five families experienced a shortfall in paying for a funeral, thus bringing funeral poverty to £131 million in the UK.

Tackling this traditionally taboo topic well in advance and planning ahead, with a funeral plan for example, needn’t be morbid and could avoid future financial challenges at an emotional time. Ultimately, it could offer families peace of mind.
