Fraser’s brave heart vision is defeatist

UNFORTUNATELY for Murdo Fraser, (your article, 6 September) his proposed new Alba Tea-Party has poured out its intentions and spectacularly missed the pot.

A crowd of independence-seeking, right-of-centre Scots are out there and, by declaring allegiance to the Union, he has instantaneously written them off.

We can admire Mr Fraser’s brave heart for trying, but the outcome is foretold. Despite their socialist policies, the SNP will continue to draw the patriotic voter. They’re the only party offering a realistic escape route from London Imperialism.

Murdo for Prime Minister of Scotland would, however, perhaps get my vote. Maybe – post-Independence Day would be the best time for Mr Fraser to strike again?

THE hilarious exploits of Para Handy and the crew of the Vital Spark haven’t got a look in! Definitely, prospective Tory leader MSP Murdo Fraser has a rather valid point with his plans for a breakaway Scottish Unionist Party (your report, 6 September).

Obviously his presumption is that many short-sighted pensioners could, by default, vote for the SUP instead of the SNP on polling day. Anything is worth a try when your jaicket is on a shoogly nail.

MURDO Fraser realises the Tory party in Scotland is going under, so is building a new ship from the old wreck. If my employer was going bust, I’d look elsewhere too.
