Frack to basics

Brian Wilson is correct that the SNP’s opposition to fracking has no basis in science or rationality (Perspective, 7 February) and that fuel poverty is a genuine economic problem in Scotland.

However, he does overlook his own party’s opposition to fracking and that is strange, given that Jim Murphy has promised to block fracking if elected and that party leader Ed Miliband has promised to impose price controls on power that will, like all other price controls, merely restrict the available supply, driving the most marginal suppliers out of business.

It appears that the SNP and the Labour Party are trying to outdo each other to see who can be the most Marxist and this needs to be both recognised and rejected.
