Why is everyone worrying about the security of Liam Fox allowing his friend to take part in Minister of Defence business?

Surely the security services will have checked close friends as part of the security clearance procedures on the minister himself. What we should be doing is asking who paid for all the foreign travel and five-star accommodation used.

As for questioning Fox’s judgment, this was surely called into question when he became a member of the Conservative Party.
