Forth crossing figures wrong

PATRICK Harvie should keep up to date with the government's documents (Debate, 14 March). The Spice Forth Replacement Crossing (FRC) document SB10-14.pdf (10 February) clearly states that the total cost of the FRC is £750 million, not the £2.3 billion he refers to.

This "total cost" of 750m, mentioned several times, is still extortionate when it is compared with the proposed Mersey Gateway Bridge (due 2014) for 390m.

Perhaps Mr Harvie could spare a moment to have Transport Scotland explain yet another discrepancy in their costs. He could ask if the total cost is 750m why do they keep quoting 2,320m?

I trust that our Liverpool neighbours are working to the same UK-wide financial arrangement – with Optimism Bias Allowances, Outrun costs etc applied to both bridges – and we here in Scotland are not lumbered with unfair penalties.
