Forgotten army

Back in May, coinciding with the V-E Day events, Lynne Arnott wrote an informative letter about members of the “Forgotten Army” who remained at war in the Far East beyond May 1945. She made the important point that for those particular troops, the end of the Second World War didn’t actually arrive until the August, 1945. Hopefully, in memory of the forgotten army in particular, the country will recognise the 70th anniversary of this historic day.
