Forced to go abroad

We have direct experience of Scotland’s falling population, since our son, daughter-in-law and baby grandson, faced with gigantic house prices, small salaries and expensive child-care, we have been obliged to emigrate to another part of Europe. They, like other young professional friends of theirs, have (much against their will) been obliged to leave the country on account of its low-wage, high-price economy.

Thus, the most useful and creative members of our community, the guarantors of Scotland’s future, are being forced from our country.

Our MSPs need to take measures to lower the cost of housing radically, and to provide cheaper child care. We need young professionals, but Scotland pays them poorly, and whether they are Scots or incomers this problem needs urgent political action.
