Follow your heart

IT IS refreshing to see James
McAvoy (Weekend Life, 17 May) saying that the independence referendum should be about identity rather than economics. As
Robert Burns said: “The hert’s aye The pairt aye That maks ye richt or wrang.” (The heart is always the part always that makes you right or wrong).

Personally, my head and my heart are in agreement that Yes is best, but if I had to choose between the two, I hope I would follow my heart.

In relation to Macbeth, I hope Mr McAvoy knows that the real Macbeth, as opposed to Shakespeare’s fictional one, was, so far as we can judge from historical accounts, a good king (and a good person) with a good queen.
