Flight or fight
As someone who passes through it 80 to 100 times a year I know that it is not an airport - it is a shopping centre with high security, which happens to have a runway going through the middle. If that's not bad enough, the management now seeks to justify charging the wretched traveller even as he arrives (your report, 1 July). Their arguments include the line: "airports have to get their money from somewhere".
What they mean is that their owners, Ferrovial, a Spanish "infrastructure" company, whose share price seems to be dropping like a stone, hugely overpaid for BAA and is now clearly running out of money and new ways to screw their customers.
