Flawed health system

The first and last paragraphs of Brian Cavanagh’s letter (19 November), in which he praises the commitment of NHS staff, and says the system must modernise and change are unexceptionable; the rest, in which he claims all is for the best in this best of all possible worlds, is mere fantasy.

Nobody doubts the commitment of the front-line NHS staff, but the fact is that the system in which they work is fundamentally flawed, and no amount of additional money will change this.

No other developed country uses such a model, commits such a high level of public funding, and suffers such dreadful health outcomes.
