Flag

On the Union flag, Sean Malloy (Letters, 9 June) sees the Saltire "firmly in the background" and "under" the cross of St George. In a spirit of compromise, I suggest the two-sided nature of flags be exploited to allow an alternative design on the reverse, in which the cross of St Andrew is to the fore. With due sensitivity to further potential Nationalist grievances, we must then never refer to either side as the "front" of the flag.
