Fiscal miracle

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Board claim to be saving almost £250,000 for the taxpayer (your report, 18 February). This is nothing short of miraculous financial economics, and deserves to be shared with other public bodies.

Wouldn’t it be an efficient use of public money to extend it to all fire officers and other public sector workers?
