Festival telly

I am writing in response to the comment from “Sgian-dubh” on Scotsman.com view (11 August) regarding STV’s coverage of the Edinburgh festivals.

I’m pleased to say that STV has a live one-hour show, Edinburgh Festival 2015, each week night from 7:05pm on both STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh as well as catch-up programmes including a half-hour show each Thursday at 10:30pm on STV’s main channel and regular news updates across all our outlets.

The response so far has been very encouraging, with established performers supporting the shows including Stephen K Amos, Ed Byrne, Juliette Binoche, Matthew Lillard, Prof Richard Demarco and Fringe stalwart 
Nicholas Parsons.

We’ve also featured many local performers and given dozens of Fringe acts a platform to promote their shows on air.

Having the world’s largest arts festival right on our doorstep is clearly an excellent opportunity to promote the city and Scotland. Therefore, I’m delighted that STV’s coverage is also being carried on the local TV network in Cardiff, Leeds, Bristol, Belfast, Brighton, Tyne and Wear and Norwich.
