Fear factor

Under paragraph 282 of the white paper, it states that an independent Scotland will not “host” nuclear weapons (ie not allow ships/aircraft carrying nuclear arms to enter Scottish waters, dock or land in Scotland) and an SNP-led Scottish Government would only join Nato on that basis.

Nato headquarters confirmed in August 2013 that Scotland would not be allowed to join Nato on that basis.

Unless the SNP changes its stance, we must assume that in future we will not be part of the “world’s most successful defence alliance” currently comprising 28 countries. This fills me with fear as it should the entire Scottish population.
