The Argentinean economy is hardly a paragon of steady growth and it is again rattling sabres against the Falklands (your report, 3 March).

Before appealing to Britain for support, the islanders might like to compare the economies of Argentina and Britain.

With the way that Britain is going down the economic slide they might feel that Argentina offers a more secure future.
