Euro discord

for the first time in decades, I watched the Eurovision Song Contest at the weekend. It was riveting; I could not believe the depths to which it has sunk.

What happened to the good old days when it really was about songs? The only thing that remains from those heady times is the political nature of the voting.

Although the title would be rather unwieldy, I suggest that it would be more 
accurate to now call the event the Eurovision Cabaret, 
Circus, Pole-Dancing and Make Your Socio-Political Statement Contest.
