Energy subsidies

I read reports in The Scotsman about different types of renewable energy and wonder if any of them would be of interest to the applicants if there were not massive subsidies and very little chance of making a loss – and all at our expense as taxpayers and consumers.

As a former businessman, albeit with only two small businesses, I never sought nor asked for government subsidy. My bank let me borrow against future profits but the risk was all mine and if I failed it lost nothing, having surety from me.

But the SNP government has its dogma about renewables and with an overall majority of seats at Holyrood, politicians have more regard for the party than local opinion and reasoned opposition.

The whips ensure that the Dear Leader’s wishes are fulfilled.

God help us if he achieves his ambition of separation from the UK.
