Energy errors

Your report (28 September) on Mr Salmond’s speech to the Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference was astonishing for the utter nonsense which he now spouts forth whenever he is near anyone who is looking for taxpayers’ money to fund their expensive renewable schemes.

To liken building ugly wind farms to the change from hunter-gathering to agriculture suggests that, as far as the Scottish Government is concerned, well thought out energy policies have been replaced by hyperbole.

Once again he fails to understand that a reliable supply of reasonably-priced energy is crucial for hard-pressed consumers and for an industry battered by a recession which will last many years but which he dismisses lightly as transient economic conditions.
