Election humour

I can't share the outrage of Labour's complaints about a Facebook campaign poking fun at Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy (your report, 6 April). Politics has to include an element of humour otherwise it becomes simply a dull administrative process, and this election campaign will involve more internet campaigning by all parties than ever before.

Jim Murphy is a big enough political figure to survive the indignity of being labelled a "dork", childish as the insult no doubt is, and his party's supporters are not above attacking their rivals in the same manner.

If every attack on Labour politicians during the campaign is going to generate news headlines, then we really are in for a long four weeks.
