E-cigs benefits

The conundrum facing health boards as to the banning of e-cigarettes (your report, 30 July) is straightforward to solve. As far as I am aware e-cigarettes do not emit “smoke” but use an aerosol to produce a vapour that resembles smoke.

Therefore no smoke is produced. The original reason for banning smoking in public places was to protect the public from passive smoking. As e-cigarettes do not produce smoke public safety is assured. As an ex-smoker myself I believe that anything which can be used to support people in giving up should be supported.
