Drug deaths

The latest reports (26 August) on Scottish drug deaths make grim reading, with 613 drug-
related deaths in 2014 representing a 16 per cent increase. This proves that the way we handle drug addiction in Scotland
simply isn’t working.

Unless there is a more radical approach, moving towards registering known addicts and prescribing drugs through the NHS system, we will continue to see these deaths increase.
