Driving speeds

I have not seen comments on one aspect of the proposed speed limit increase to 80 mph (whether or not it would apply in Scotland).

Car speedometers invariably understate actual speeds by 8-10 per cent, so will show 70 mph when actual speed is 64 mph.

But increasingly drivers are using satnav, which records true speeds.

So presumably many more will feel able to drive at 80 mph who previously would have been doing 64 mph, a huge increase of 25 per cent.
