Drink and walk

Coffee chains are adding booze to their offerings (your report, 22 April). Why not – pubs now sell food and coffees alongside their beverages, too.

The catch is that even a single glass of wine (especially a large one) can get you near or even over the drink-driving blood alcohol limit, so it doesn’t seem a particularly sensible move for drivers – as everyone knows, any alcohol intake, even quite small, can affect reaction time and judgement.

Don’t drink and drive (cyclists and horse-riders too!) seems to be the sensible approach. Pedestrians might welcome the coffee shops’ initiative though.
