Drama crisis

I was interested to read the online responses (Scotsman.com view, 11 September) to your news story of the previous day about the search for the “new Taggart”.

In this day and age some of the best new television
dramas are co-productions between several producers with investment coming from both sides of the
Atlantic.

It is relatively rare for locally funded drama – from anywhere – to hit a standard of which any country can be truly proud, so it is important that a decent amount of public money is put into fewer, but better, Scottish dramas.
