Dodgy legislation

Only Alex Salmond could propose a new law to protect people who have refused to pay local taxes.

The community charge was the fairest local tax ever levied. It taxed everyone who used the services provided by councils, not houses, which do not use services.

Accordingly, households which comprised four working adults paid four times that paid by one person living alone, often a pensioner.

What is unfair about that? Tax dodgers should not be protected.
