Disunited policy on wind power

YOUR "Winds of change" article (Spectrum, April 4) is interesting, but what is more interesting is what the National Grid with the assistance of Ofgem is charging the generating companies for this being transmitted south of the border.

They are charged from the north of Scotland 21/kW which will rise to 35/kW in the near future, and from the south of Scotland 14/kW, and this will also rise. NG pay the English generators from 2/kW up to 6/kW. NG produces a fanciful equation in their methodology document to account for this. This is supposed to be a United Kingdom. But is it?
