Disunited front

Peter Jones (Perspective, 29 April) tells us that the Better Together campaign needs to “make a positive case for the Union”.

If so, it should begin by deciding what it means by it.

The Liberal Democrats call for federation – the logical solution – while Labour dithers between devo-max and devo-min.

The Tories, it seems, have a secret plan – prepared by Lord Strathclyde, a hereditary nobleman.

The three witches in Macbeth could do better.
