Disgrace & favour

MANY of The Scotsman’s regular correspondents seem to be avidly fighting last year’s independence referendum, rather than this year’s Westminster general election.

Seldom do they expound the alleged advantages for Scottish voters of being part of the UK. Rather they lambast the SNP for presuming to stand up for the rights of the residents of Scotland.

Perhaps they hope, by currying favour with the three main Unionist parties, to receive a gong or even the pensioner’s prize … a peerage.

Perhaps they should affirm their integrity by endorsing the prospect of introducing “British democracy”, starting with the abolition of the House of Lords?
