Having read that public libraries could provide tuition, I enquired recently, only to be told that there was a waiting list.
When I suggested I might enter my name on it, I was told firmly: “It is a very long list.” The implication was, I felt, that I would be needing instruction on the harp before I could get to the top of it.
The library did provide a manual which claimed to make all clear to aged technophobic morons – it might as well have been written in Swahili.
It is all somewhat offputting when one is trying to join the connected majority. I am sending this letter by e-mail – at least I hope I am.
