Dignified silence

So China’s premier Li Keqiang follows President Barack Obama of the United States in expressing a preference for Scotland to stay in the UK. It’s interesting and worrying that the leaders of the two most powerful nations in the world can be so easily “suckered” by planted questions.

Meanwhile, these two mighty men were completely outshone in the shrewdness stakes by the 88-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, who twice refused requests from her Prime Minister, David Cameron, to speak out against Scottish independence.

If only Her Majesty’s government had the same degree of
integrity.
