Dementia care

In Scotland’s Future, “highest level of dementia diagnosis in the UK” is listed as a major achievement of the NHS in Scotland. That is not something to boast about.

Providing high quality service to every patient diagnosed with dementia would definitely be an achievement but as we recently saw with a damning report by the Mental Welfare Commission of the two wards for patients with dementia within the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, NHS Lothian still does not provide good basic care for people with dementia. Shame.
