Cut sick pay

The government decrees that about £120 a week in statutory sick pay is enough for a private firm to pay its staff when sick, and this only from the fourth day of illness. If this was introduced into the public sector, we could save a huge amount of public money, and it may have a marked effect on the public-sector sick record.

Full pay for many weeks is no incentive to go to work. It's amazing how many people feel well enough to work if the alternative is no pay.
