Currency quiz

The Fraser of Allander Institute warns of the danger to the Scottish economy of the Bank of England raising interest rates to cool a London housing boom.

Is this not exactly the kind of issue that – in the event of independence – would make a nonsense of Scotland retaining the pound?

Independence implies independence of fiscal and monetary policy; this would mean an independent Scottish currency if Scotland were to secede from the Union. The SNP is being disingenuous to claim otherwise.
