Crunch time
Dorothy Brightman (Letters, 7 October) seems to be in an
awfully bad mood about people – scientists and retailers – making an effort to encourage children
to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables.
Yes, perhaps when she was a child she would respond to commands, but times change.
Rightly or wrongly, today’s children grow up thinking that their opinions matter and they simply won’t be forced to eat something they find repulsive. Most parents want them to enjoy doing the right thing anyway.
Surely using a little ingenuity to increase their intake of vitamins and minerals isn’t the worst thing in the world?
