Cruelly confined

Thanks to the Platform column (3 August) by an assistant director of the charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. She pointed out the mental cruelty suffered by the big cat species held in zoos.

How can human beings confine these majestic, intelligent
animals to a life of frustration, fear and sadness, only to satisfy their selfish desire to gape at them through bars?
