Crossing safety

The French nuclear inspectorate condemned all the steel on
Areva’s new reactor, writes Elizabeth Marshall (Letters, 25 August).

Other reports have cast doubt on the integrity and safety of some Chinese steel used in the construction industry, due to a particular alloy. Can we be
assured and reassured that all the steel (Chinese, Polish and Spanish, I believe, rather than from the UK/Dutch firm Corus) used on the new Queensferry Crossing is of the highest
quality and will not suffer
Areva’s fate or indeed any doubts whatsoever?
