Cropper debate

I WAS impressed with the sensitivity and dignity apparent in Coronation Street’s handling of the death of transgender character Hayley Cropper, who chose to end her own life after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The ITV soap brought attention to this little known cancer, which has an appalling survival rate, and also raised the debate about the right to die.

I think people worrying about copycat suicides are being overly sensitive.

On a separate note, both Julie Hesmondhalgh as Hayley Cropper, and David Neilson, as Roy, deserve awards for their performances.
