Council jobs

The idea of 2,000 jobs being cut at the City of Edinburgh Council over the next four years (your report, 18 September) is at first pretty alarming. But, based on anecdotal evidence from people who have worked there, it seems there are some real efficiencies to be made. One would hope that the hard workers keep their jobs though. I, for one, would rather we had a slight rise in council tax than saw so many people losing their jobs though.
