Costume drama

The furore following the “Mental Patient” Hallowe’en costume sold by Asda is symbolic of the staggering hypocrisy of the British public. The costume was merely a bad taste joke and no psychiatric patients were harmed in its manufacture.

However, real “mental patients” are harmed routinely every day by the organisations employed to protect and help them, with little complaint by the British public.

Am I the only person to be thoroughly tired of yet another “Elderly patients abused” headline? Perhaps Asda should sell a Hallowe’en costume of an elderly malnourished woman sitting in her own incontinence while a nurse screams abuse at her. Get angry at real abuse and neglect, not mere bad taste.
