Cost Check

The Scots used to deserve a reputation of being good with money, so how is it that the Scottish Government remains dead set on replacing the Forth Road bridge with one that is going to cost at least eight times as much (fully allowing for inflation) despite using less steel, fewer workers and sharing much of the existing infrastructure? A shipping-friendly causeway remains the better-by-far option, yet we have never been shown comparative costs. Pride and prestige over pragmatism and plain common sense?
