Condoms

The statement from Hugh McLoughlin (Letters, 16 February) that condoms do not stop HIV infections is crass, scientifically illiterate, wrong and potentially dangerous. The overwhelming scientific evidence (peer reviewed by scientific professionals) is that condoms prevent the spread of HIV/Aids. Mr McLoughlin seems to think the prognostications of an aged theocratic virgin based on dogma are more accurate than the observations of trained scientists and doctors.
