Colleges boost

The Scottish Government’s 
decision to reduce proposed cuts to colleges’ budgets (your report, 6 February) is welcomed by 
college principals across Scotland. Colleges have £61 million more than expected and this will provide us with a measure of 
financial stability as we continue to take forward reforms over the next two years.

The Scottish Government has listened to Colleges Scotland, which asked for continued investment in the sector and a reduction in the proposed cuts.

Colleges are the solution to many of the social and economic challenges Scotland faces, such as youth employment, social inclusion and skills utilisation.

The revised budget demonstrates that the government recognises our value and role in transforming lives.
