Coal is king

THREE cheers for Ayrshire Power ("Anger as coal power plant bid goes ahead", News, 14 March).

At last we will be using the thousands of tons of unused coal that can provide the electricity we need before the undersupply of power sees the lights go out in this country in the near future and, as a bonus, will give employment to hundreds of people. The infuriated environmental organisations will have to accept that coal, hydro and nuclear are now the only guaranteed suppliers of power because previous governments foolishly sold all our oil reserves.
