Clocks

Spring fast–forward I wish to support VisitScotland chairman Mike Cantlay’s suggestion that the clocks go forward at the end of February, not March, for exactly the reasons he gives (your report, 1 April).

I have always thought it illogical to wait for so long after the winter solstice before we “spring forward”. The Scottish Government spokesman is way off the mark when he says making the change would endanger children going to school: as your leader points out, last Friday the sun rose at 5:48 GMT, or 6:48 BST. How many children are on their way to school before 6:48?
