IN RESPONSE to Roy Turnbull’s letter (10 September), the earth has been emitting and absorbing CO2 for more than 500 million years. The primary sources of current emissions are the 500 active volcanoes. Without this primary supply of CO2, the earth would degrade into a lifeless moonscape.

Paleo-climatologists estimate that, in Cretaceous times (over 65 million years ago) CO2 concentration in the atmosphere was two to ten times greater than today.

Global warming zealots claim that CO2 increases raised global temperatures but, inconveniently, US scientists have reported that the earth’s temperature has declined over the past decade, whilst between 1998 and 2008 the concentration of CO2 increased.

This explains why “global warming” has been changed to “climate change” and then more recently to “climate chaos”.

The Anthropogenic Global Warming scam keeps the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, consenting scientists, WWF, Friends of the Earth, Scottish Renewables and the subsidy-junkies of the renewables industry in well-paid, self-perpetuating jobs at our –not inconsiderable – expense.

Our energy bills contain a 12 per cent levy “government obligation to help the environment”. Is Mr Turnbull going to dispute this, too?
