Childcare delay

Prognostications about separation being unlikely to close the “rich-poor gap” (your report, 21 January) need fleshing out. Is there really not going to be enough cash/resources to allow redistribution?

On a more prosaic note, childcare facilities with associated pre-school education could well have been developed much faster already. Nicola Sturgeon continues to neglect this, instead repeating that independence is vital for the necessary investment in childcare so women can go back to work.

Surely improving pre-school childcare now should be independent of the referendum?
