Childcare claim needs scrutiny

HAVING read that the latest gimmick of the SNP is to declare that by spending more on childcare, output will increase significantly (News, 12 January), I wonder if the mathematics and the assumptions used in the model that led to this conclusion could be published?

Unless I am mistaken, we still have a certain level of unemployment, so where will these jobs come from and what will they produce?

How is it that in this era of gender equality the “female labour market activity rate” is singled out?

I know I am being a tad naïve as it is just attempted vote-catching after all, isn’t it?
